Web Summit Qatar 2026: MCIT's Tasmu Accelerator announces partnership agreements with several entities to support startups
TASMU Accelerator, an initiative of the TASMU Smart Qatar program under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), announced the signing of several agreements with Mowasalat (Karwa), DHL Express Qatar, and PwC Middle East during the Web Summit Qatar 2026.
TASMU Accelerator unveiled the selection of five proof-of-concept projects presented by four startups from the third cohort of the Accelerator, to be co-developed with Mowasalat (Karwa). The cooperation agreement was signed by Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, and Dr. Hamed Al Shaibani, Executive Director of the Information and Communications Technology Department at Mowasalat (Karwa). During the next phase, the practical viability of the solutions will be tested, their impact on operational efficiency will be measured, and digital transformation across Mowasalat's core operations will be further advanced.
The selected projects include an advanced fuel optimization solution piloted on four buses within the operational fleet, in addition to the development of digital platforms for document management and contractor collaboration across engineering departments.
The projects also include digital solutions for facilities management and fleet procurement operations, as well as a comprehensive e-permit solution for premises access control, and machine learning-integration within business applications and data infrastructure to support informed, data-driven decision-making.
In this context, Eman Al Kuwari, Director of Digital Innovation at MCIT, stated: "These proof-of-concept projects exemplify a core role of the TASMU Accelerator in enabling startups to test their technology solutions within real-world operational environments, in direct partnership with sector entities. This collaboration with Mowasalat reflects the Ministry's commitment to connecting digital innovation with operational needs and translating innovative solutions into practical, scalable applications. These pilots contribute to accelerating the adoption of digital technologies, enhancing operational efficiency, and advancing digital transformation across vital sectors, in alignment with national priorities."
Dr. Hamed Al Shaibani, Executive Director of ITC in Mowasalat (Karwa) commented: "Through our partnership with TASMU, Mowasalat is enabling innovation in smart mobility and sustainable transport by supporting international startups with real-world operational expertise and a live transport ecosystem. This collaboration accelerates scalable solutions that enhance efficiency, streamline operations, and deliver tangible COâ‚‚ reductions across the transport sector."
As part of the collaboration, TASMU Accelerator organized a series of introductory meetings and pitch sessions, during which startups presented their proposed technology solutions to specialized operational teams at Mowasalat. Following a structured evaluation process, five technology proposals were selected to advance to the pilot implementation phase, with the objective of validating their practical viability, measuring their impact on operational efficiency, and supporting digital transformation within the company's core operations.
TASMU Accelerator signed a partnership agreement with DHL Express Qatar. The agreement was signed by Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, and Henry Fares, Managing Director of DHL Express Qatar.to serve as a Sector Expert for TASMU Accelerator.
The partnership aims to support startups participating in TASMU Accelerator by enabling them to benefit from DHL's Express Qatar operational expertise and connecting the technology solutions they develop with real market needs, particularly in the fields of logistics, supply chain, and related sectors
Under the cooperation agreement, DHL Express Qatar will contribute to providing practical opportunities for testing and developing technology solutions by sharing its operational expertise and offering sector insights grounded in real-world applied experience. This will help startups enhance the readiness of their solutions, validate their applicability, and support their expansion and market entry opportunities.
This partnership is part of the integrated ecosystem approach adopted by the TASMU Accelerator, which focuses on connecting digital innovation with real-world operational challenges and strengthening collaboration between government entities and private sector leaders, contributing to accelerating digital transformation and supporting the effective and sustainable growth of technology startups.
TASMU Accelerator also signed a partnership agreement with PwC Middle East to join as Cohort Champion for the fourth cohort of the TASMU Accelerator. The agreement was signed by Eman Al Kuwari, Director of the Digital Innovation Department at MCIT, and Yazen Al Safi, representing PwC Middle East.
Under the partnership agreement, PwC Middle East will present a cash prize of QAR 200,000 to be awarded to the best startup within the fourth cohort (2026), in addition to providing strategic support to startups within the fourth cohort that includes access to leading specialized mentors and industry experts, along with guidance on business development strategies and market readiness.This partnership reflects a shared commitment to empowering high-potential startups and strengthening Qatar's position as a regional hub for digital innovation and entrepreneurship. The agreement also represents as an effective model of collaboration between government initiatives and private sector leaders, contributing to enhancing the support ecosystem for technology startups, accelerating their growth pathways, and transforming innovative ideas into market-ready solution, in alignment with the objectives of Qatar's Digital Agenda 2030.
