Qatar Charity (QC) has signed a strategic co-operation protocol with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bamako, Mali, to bolster humanitarian response and provide vital support to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and host communities across the country. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Hamad bin Muazzi al-Shammari, acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Qatar in Mali.
The agreement was signed by Said Zoulgami, country director of QC’s Mali branch, and Pierre Camara, UNHCR’s Representative in Mali. This milestone agreement builds on a longstanding partnership between the two organisations and spans key sectors, including protection, education, water and sanitation, livelihoods, housing, and social cohesion.
In a press statement, Zoulgami said: "We are proud of this collaboration, which reflects our shared commitment to restoring dignity and hope for the most vulnerable.
Through this protocol, we aim to bridge the gap between emergency relief and sustainable development, while strengthening the resilience of refugees and host communities. Al-Shammari said: "This agreement embodies the humanitarian values that unite the State of Qatar and UNHCR, reinforcing our joint efforts to support refugees and host communities in a way that promotes security and stability.” Camara welcomed the partnership, commending QC’s decade-long commitment to supporting refugees in the country and underscoring Qatar’s influential role in advancing UN-led humanitarian efforts worldwide.
