An online auction of impounded vehicles which started yesterday, through the 'Sooum' application, will continue until 11pm tomorrow. The Ministry of Interior explained in a post on its X platform that vehicles will be available for inspection during the auction period at the Traffic Impound Yard in the Industrial Area, Street 52, from 3pm to 6pm.Participants are also required to obtain a bidding card from the auction yard by paying a refundable deposit of QR3,000 at the end of each auction day, with the option of retaining the card until the end of the auction and use it for multiple transactions.It is also prohibited to use cash in transactions exceeding QR50,000, in accordance with the Cabinet law. In such cases, the amount must be transferred to the Police Fund account through the IBAN number provided by the finance officer at the customer service counter.When a vehicle is awarded in the auction, 20% of the sale value must be paid immediately as a non-refundable deposit, with the full amount due the following day. However, it is also permissible to pay the full price at the time of awarding.The terms also state that if the buyer fails to pay the full sale amount within 24 hours of the award, the Committee has the right to re-list the vehicle for auction, and the buyer will have no claim to the down payment (sale deposit). The buyer is also not entitled to change the name stated on the deposit receipt to another name unless the full purchase amount has been paid, and this procedure is subject to a fee of QR200. The buyer must present their QID card when the auction is awarded in order to complete the procedures.
