The sales at the second edition of Pakistani Mango Festival (Al Hamba Exhibition) have crossed 123 tonnes on the first six days. According to figures, released by the Souq Waqif Management, the sales stood at 123,767 kg while drawing a total of 59,000 visitors.The festival opened last Thursday at Souq Waqif to feature an array of mangoes along with its products. Held at the Eastern Square of Souq Waqif, the festival is organised by the Private Engineering Office (PEO) in co-ordination with the embassy of Pakistan.General supervisor of the exhibition Khalid Saif al-Suwaidi, in a statement from PEO, said the turnout has exceeded the expectations from day one. "Visitors are eager to try the premium varieties flown in daily specifically for the exhibition alongside the strong interest in participating restaurants and shops offering innovative mango-based desserts and dishes. We are committed to delivering a comprehensive and exceptional experience to all Souq Waqif visitors,” he said.To run until July 19, the exhibition sells Sindhri, Chaunsa, Safeed Chaunsa, Anwar Ratool and Duseri along with Pakistan seasonal fruits such as black plum, peach, plum and falsa and peaches-all freshly flown exclusively for the festival.A number of mango products including juices, ice creams and cakes are also available on sale.The exhibition is open daily from 4pm-10pm except on public holidays when it receives visitors until 10pm.The second edition of the festival boasts of 74 sellers, with a number of companies from Pakistan with track record of producing high-quality mangoes.The exhibition also features more than 25 restaurants and shops that offer Pakistani culinary experience with dishes and a variety of mango products.The organisers have put in place strict conditions for participation in the festival to ensure the quality of the displayed items.The prices were set to be affordable, with an emphasis on products unavailable in local markets.
