With the aim of building bridges of human and cultural communication between peoples, and contributing to building a thoughtful and aware personality among participants, through openness to diverse cultures, acquiring new experiences in an educational and interactive context, and introducing them to Qatari culture and traditions, the Ministry of Culture, represented by the ministry’s Nomas Centre, is organising a cultural trip to South Africa, from August 1-9, under the theme of Science, literature and the company of Majid for the age group of 9-14.
Nomas Centre director Ghanem Abdulrahman al-Kuwari said that this trip, which brings together a group of children from various age groups, builds on previous trips that the centre has organised to Norway, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan.
The goal is for the participants to learn about other cultures and exchange cultures.
Al-Kuwari said that such trips provide children with various skills, particularly self-reliance and the discovery of an aspect of South African culture.
He revealed that the itinerary will include field visits to several of Cape Town’s key cultural and tourist attractions, including the Castle of Good Hope, one of Africa’s oldest colonial forts, and the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art, which celebrates modern African art.
Participants will also visit the Cape Town Science Centre, where they will engage in interactive science experiences that foster critical thinking and exploration.
