The Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre (Fanar) at the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs has launched its Ramadan activities.The programmes that started on the first day of Ramadan include Iftar programme for reverts and a series of lectures directed at Muslim communities.These are, according to an official statement from Awqaf, carried out as part of its efforts to spread religious knowledge and promote Islamic values during Ramadan.Daily Iftar for reverts are held at Fanar’s main building in Doha, the workers’ city branch, and the Al Khor branch.Each Iftar is attended by more than 300 persons daily.As many as 250 persons take part in the programme in Fanar’s branch in the workers’ city.The programme included awareness and advocacy speeches in addition to the preachers answering reverts’ questions in a faith-based atmosphere.Fanar organised two lectures for the Ethiopian community, where preacher Awal Hamidi al-Arousi gave a lecture in the Oromo language, while preacher Wahib Abdul Wasi gave a lecture in the Amharic language.The lectures addressed the importance of Ramadan and its virtues. The event was attended by 75 men and women.The lecture in Tamil was titled "Muslim life” and it was attended by more than 400.The lecture was delivered by preacher Rashid Hajj Al-Akbar, who reviewed the features of Muslim life in light of the changes and modern life.
