Bunts Qatar, a socio-cultural association of Indian expats from the Karnataka state, celebrated their annual event, Buntothsava-2023.Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) president A P Manikantan was the chief guest. The guests of honour included Manipal Institute of Higher Education's former pro vice chancellor Dr V Surendra Shetty, popular Kannada actor Pramod Shetty, ICC vice president Subramanya Hebbagelu and event sponsor M Pallonji Qatar's general manager J Chidananda.The Seva Sampada award for outstanding community service was conferred on Tulu Koota Qatar's past president Asmath Ali and Hebbagelu. Visiting artists Dr Niranjan Murthy and Kishore Shetty, children and members who excelled in various fields were feted.Founder president Ravi Shetty was felicitated on being awarded the Karnataka state Rajyotsava Award in 2022 and Deepak Shetty on being elected as vice president of the Indian Community Benevolent Forum.The highlight of the event was a cultural extravaganza depicting the festivals of Tulunad, including folk dance, kambala, pili dance ,yakshagana, keel kudure, kalari payattu and a larger than life size doll and Tulu comedy drama Avu Dala Apujji by well known Lakumi troop from Mangalore.Bunts Qatar advisory board chairman Deepak Shetty, vice president Dineshchandra Shetty and general secretary Manas Shetty were present. The event was compered by Naveen Shetty Iruvail and Vibha Krishna Shetty.Bunts Qatar president Dr Padmashree Shetty welcomed the gathering and Avinash Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
