El Salvador embassy launches solar exhibition, Sudan heritage expo at Katara

As part of the events accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation has inaugurated two new art exhibitions.One of these is a solar exhibition held in co-operation with the embassy of El Salvador, while the other is the "Sudanese Brands” exhibition organised in co-operation with the embassy of Sudan.The opening ceremony was attended by Katara’s Human Resources Department director Saif al-Dosari, a number of ambassadors – including Ahmed Abdel-Rahman Mohamed Hassan Siwar al-Dahab of Sudan and Milton Alcides Magana Herrera of El Salvador, various heads of diplomatic missions, and other guests.Magana Herrera expressed his thanks and appreciation for Katara's efforts and continuous co-operation in presenting the cultural heritage and art of different continents.Al-Dahab said: "The exhibition is an opportunity to introduce the civilisation, history and heritage of Sudan in the presence of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 fans from all continents of the world.”The "Sudanese Brands” exhibition has been organised by a group comprising six Sudanese companies that specialize in fashion, jewellery, perfumes, interior designing, health and beauty products, and advertising and media.The verandah is like a building in the middle of the houses of the Sudanese, which are usually well ventilated, in which members of the family gather to chat, eat meals and drink coffee.The exhibition includes Sudanese costumes that combine originality and renewal, made of Damour, produced from Sudanese cotton.The exhibition also showcases natural Sudanese products such as Gum Arabic and Baobab, which are considered organic food products.There are also women's handmade jewellery and accessories.Meanwhile, Katara – the Cultural Village Foundation has announced a new competition – "Best Photo in Katara” – in addition to its various other contests.The conditions include photography through a mobile phone, that the photo taken is recent and from the cultural neighbourhood of Katara, and that participation has to be done with the hashtag #Best_Photo_in_KataraThe first-place winner will receive a prize of QR10,000, the second-place winner will get QR7,000, and the third-place winner QR5,000.The competition starts Monday and ends on December 18.The Katara Beach is witnessing a number of heritage competitions as part of the activities of the 12th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival, which continues to see a great turnout of visitors.It evokes the tradition and heritage associated with the lives of ancestors and their pursuit of livelihood at sea.
