Activists of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are pictured inside cages during a protest outside the Alipore Zoological Garden in Kolkata yesterday. The activists were protesting against the recent death of animals at the zoo. They claim that, during the period from August 2011 to March 2012, at least 67 animals - including tigers, lions, chimpanzees, kangaroos, marmosets, birds and snakes - have died at the zoo. They demanded the closure of the zoo.
