Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Smriti Irani talks to the parents of child patients at B C Roy hospital, the eastern region’s largest referral hospital for children, in Kolkota yesterday. At least 17 infants have died in the last week at the government-run hospital. In June, 21 babies died at the same hospital. After an investigation, the authorities absolved the hospital of medical negligence. Irani criticised the lack of basic infrastructure at the hospital.
