Villagers try to comfort the sister of Sajjad Ahmed, a top militant commander of Hezb-ul Mujahideen, during his funeral in Pinglish, some 56km south of Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir yesterday. Thousands attended the funeral a day after Ahmed was killed in a gun battle with security forces. A soldier and a police officer were also killed in the fighting.
