A Doha student is making her acting debut in a Malayalam feature film.Meghana Gangadharan, a ninth class student of the MES Indian School, plays a key role in Orma Mathram (Memories Only) along with two other female stars, Priyanka and Dhanya Mary Varghese. The film is the third to be produced by Doha-based businessman M Rajan under the Horizaon Entertainment’s banner.Orma Mathram stars leading south Indian actors Dileep, Jagathy Sri Kumar, Nedumudi Venu, Saleem Kumar and Hrishree Asokan among others. “The film has three heroines, all crucial to the plot,” Rajan said. Meghana, daughter of Doha-based actor Gangadharan Mattannore and Gauri Gangadharan, has been taking part in stage shows from her childhood. She won the Kalathilakam title four times when she was a student of the Shantiniketan School previously where she studied up to the seventh standard. She has also won awards in competitions organised by various Qatar forums including the Thrishur Jilla Sauhrda Vedi and FCC.Rajan, a hotelier, decided to cast Meghana in Orma Mathram after seeing her performance in a Malayalam play, The Raja of Misr, staged by Majed Symphony in Doha last year. Orma Mathram, which will be released next month, is directed by Madhu Kaithapram.“It is intended as a pure family entertainer and the pre-release reports are highly encouraging,” Rajan said.Rajan’s two earlier films, Vadukkanathan, starring Mohan Lal, and Nasraani, with Mammootty in the lead role, were box office hits. “I am already working on my fourth film and am in talks with both directors Sibi Malayil and Joshi,” Rajan told Gulf Times. “Mammootty will play the main role.”Meghana is likely to be featured in his new film too. “Even after her first shot, Dileep was all praise for Meghana’s performance in Orma Mathram.”
