Kahramaa launches National Water Control Center

* National Emergency Control Centre also establishedThe Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp (Kahramaa) launched Tuesday the National Water Control Centre, after completing its renovation and development work, and announced establishing the National Emergency Control Centre.This launch comes within the framework of the long-term strategic plan 2030 of the corporation, to reaffirm its full readiness to host the most prominent sporting event in the region and around the globe — the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.Kahramaa stressed its keenness to sign contracts with major international companies to modernise the basic infrastructure of the National Water Control Centre, as well as the establishment of the National Emergency Control Centre, as the project was awarded to the Japanese Yokogawa Electric Corp.The two centres are equipped with the latest water network management software, which serves the current needs and the expected future expansion of the country's water network.The corporation emphasised its great keenness to ensure that the two centres are provided with the latest global cybersecurity technologies, which meet the requirements of international and national standards for cybersecurity.Kahramaa Chairperson Eng Issa bin Hilal al-Kuwari said the inauguration of the centre after its renovation represents a new step towards achieving the strategic objectives of the corporation in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.The centre will work to ensure the flow of water services at the highest levels, whether during the hosting of the tournament or after it, he said, pointing out that adopting modern technology will help the corporation reach its goal of achieving global leadership in the field of water and electricity services. Al-Kuwari described the control centre as a major step towards enhancing the water security in Qatar, which is a strategic priority for the corporation's business, expressing his confidence that, the centre — with the modern technology adopted in its operations, represents a qualitative leap in the efficiency of managing water distribution operations, strategic production planning and demand management.He also explained that the National Water Control Centre and the National Emergency Control Centre have been provided with a simulation system for the water network that uses the same network management software, for the purposes of training and testing emergency plans to deal with various possible scenarios, in a safe and isolated environment that ensures flow and efficiency of operations.Kahramaa affirmed that the centre integrates specialised software to detect leaks, which enables technicians to control, treat them and reduce water loss, which in turn contributes greatly to conserving water, reducing waste and achieving operational sustainability.Qatar General Electricity and Water Corp stated that the control room has been greatly developed and equipped with the latest equipment available globally, within its continuous endeavour to provide services at the highest levels to residents and visitors of Qatar.
