Ashghal starts work on new mental hospital

A new hospital exclusively for mental health will come up in Qatar and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has started works on the project. Engineer Jarallah Mohamed al-Marri, director of Buildings Projects Department at Ashghal, told local Arabic daily Arrayah that the authority is focusing on the health sector infrastructure.“Ashghal built 26 health facilities from 2004 to 2022. These include health centres and hospitals with various specialisations including obstetrics and gynaecology and emergency care. The construction of many health centres such as Al Khor, South Al Wakra and Ain Khaled Primary Health Centres have been completed,” he said.All these projects come within the country’s plan to develop the health sector with the aim of combating epidemic diseases and working to keeping pace with scientific and preventive developments. He added that the works include the National Laboratories project that supports the public health programmes and monitors infectious diseases.Located at Mesaimeer, the QR240mn lab offers facilities for testing services, water safety, environmental testing and food safety support, designed according to the best global sustainability standards.The laboratory is built as part of Ashghal’s efforts to foster the country's healthcare sector in order to help achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030.
