Palestinian representative says Algeria summit crucial for urgent Arab action against occupation

The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League Ambassador Diab al-Louh affirmed that the 31st Arab Summit in Algeria to be held on Nov 1 and 2 represents an important step to confirm the firm Arab and historical position to support the Palestinian people and their just and legitimate struggle.It would also help to set up mechanisms for Arab action internationally to confront the racist Israeli policies and practices against the Palestinian people and provide urgent international protection for the Palestinian people, QNA reported from Algiers.In an exclusive statement to QNA, Ambassador Diab al-Louh said that the Arab summit in Algeria is of special importance that differs from previous summits due to the exceptional circumstances that Palestinian people are going through. He stressed the keenness of the Palestinian people and their leadership for this summit in light of the ongoing Israeli, bloody escalation that targets Palestinian people.In this regard, he also referred to what is happening in the city of Jerusalem, from the plans of Judaization, displacement, theft, and demolition of homes, the attempt to spatially and physically divide the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and to change the historical and legal status of the city of Jerusalem, the capital of Palestine.The Permanent Representative of Palestine to the Arab League said that he expects the summit to mobilise the largest possible international front to end this occupation of the land of Palestine, enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and to find a just solution to the issues, foremost of which is the Palestinian refugee issue, based on General Assembly Resolution No 194 (1948) and the Arab Peace Initiative. In October, two weeks before the summit, Algeria hosted a conference of the Palestinian factions which culminated in the Declaration of Algiers to reconcile and end the division.The Declaration of Algiers includes nine articles. Most prominent is the acceleration of plans to hold general presidential and legislative elections in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and the city of Jerusalem, according to the approved laws within a maximum period of one year from the date of signing.Meanwhile, the Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and the Occupied Arab Territories at the Arab League Ambassador Dr Said Abu Ali underlined that the Arab Summit in Algeria will be historically crucial both at the levels of the Palestinian cause and the entire Arab region, expressing his aspiration for the summit to be the occasion for the launch of the joint Arab unification of ranks.In an exclusive statement to QNA, Ambassador Abu Ali said that the Palestinian issue is the central cause for the Arab nations and constitutes the base of the unanimity and solidarity in supporting its fairness, indicating that it is an issue of the Arab official system and the Arab citizen.He stressed that closing the chapter of division and uniting the Arab position through the Declaration of Algiers to achieve the Palestinian reconciliation represent a new start of enhancing the resilience of the Palestinian people's struggle and their just cause.He explained that the achievement of robust Arab solidarity and positive Arab relations free of impurities would help the Arab countries counter the daunting challenges that beset the entire Arab region, as well as end some internal situations and challenges faced by these countries.
