PHCC health centres provide urgent care for children aged five and above

Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has announced that parents who require medical treatment for urgent but non-emergency conditions for children aged five and above can utilise the services offered by its 29 health centres.Dr Samya Ahmad al-Abdulla, senior consultant, family medicine and executive director of operations at PHCC, said: “This may include a respiratory tract infection, mild fever, throat pain or ear pain. Parents can take their child, without a prior appointment, to their registered health centre between 7am and 11pm, or to any of PHCC’s eight Urgent Care Units, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” PHCC’s eight Urgent Care Units provide round the clock care for patients with non-threatening medical needs under primary care such as minor burns, sprains, severe headache or earache, high fever, dehydration, and dizziness. Parents can take their children to any PHCC Urgent Care Unit, 24 hours a day, regardless of which health centre they are registered at. Children with more severe medical conditions, or those with a chronic illness, are advised to visit one of Hamad Medical Corporation’s Paediatric Emergency Centres (PECs), while parents whose child is experiencing a life-threatening medical condition should immediately call 999 for an ambulance. PHCC Urgent Care Units open 24/7 - Health centres at Umm Slal, Muaither, Al Ruwais, Rawdat Al Khail, Gharrafat Al Rayyan, Abu Baker Al Sidiq, Al Sheehaniya, and Al Kaaban. PECs are available at Al Sadd, Al Rayyan, Al Wakra, Al Khor, Al Daayen, and Airport.
