QU, Potel et Chabot and Saint Clair sign MoU

Qatar University (QU) and Potel et Chabot and Saint Clair, the world-famous catering brand, recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the university’s Sports and Events Complex.
The agreement was signed by QU’s dean of the College of Health Sciences Dr Hanan Abdul Rahim and Potel et Chabot head of Operations Aurélie Ben Ghalia.The agreement seeks to provide QU students from the Human Nutrition department, and specifically the food safety programme, "excellent internship opportunities to play an active role and be a part of the food safety team during upcoming sports events", a press statement noted.Through the MoU, QU also aims to build partnerships and enhance its role as a leader in community engagement and public service, as well as promote and support students’ academic excellence, volunteerism, community service and leadership.Dr Hanan Abdul Rahim said, “I want to thank the Human Nutrition Department and the partners involved in this important initiative. The College of Health Sciences strives to give students exciting hands-on learning opportunities. With this experience, students will not only get the opportunity to apply their learning in a mega event, but they also get the chance to give back and support the community in Qatar at one of its most important moments.”Ben Ghalia added, “Thank you to QU and the whole team for making this agreement possible. As a company with over 200 years of history, Potel et Chabot and Saint Clair are a part of the events industry and event hospitality all around the world, and attach a lot of importance to legacy. We are very happy to be here today, to give this opportunity for students and to partner with Qatar University to prepare the next generation of experts in food safety management in events.” This MoU will provide students of the Human Nutrition Department, particularlt the food safety programme, a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, worldwide exposure and hands-on unique experience as part of QU's education excellence themes, community engagement and commitment to provide high-quality education", the statement added.The main responsibilities of the students will be to work in co-ordination with Potel et Chabot and Saint Clair Hygiene & Safety manager Talia Salloum to ensure the implementation of the documented procedures, food safety policies and plans, conduct regular inspections during the event operations and deal with the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Municipality inspectors and MATCH Hospitality food safety consultants at both the Central Production Unit and stadiums during match days.
