Qatar enhances co-operation with Europol on field of law enforcement

Director of the Ministry of Interioru2019s Human Resources Department, Major-General Khalifa Nasr al-Nasr, signed the agreement for Qatar while Europol executive director Catherine de Bolle signed in behalf of the European agency.
The Ministry of Interior has signed an agreement with the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Co-operation (Europol) in the area of security co-operation and combatting the organised crime.
Director of the Ministry of Interior’s Human Resources Department, Major-General Khalifa Nasr al-Nasr, signed the agreement for Qatar while Europol executive director Catherine de Bolle signed in behalf of the European agency.The agreement aims to boost security co-operation between Qatar and the EU member states through a secure system to share information, linking Qatar with the law enforcement agencies in the EU and several other countries, and EU organisations.The agreement also aims to enhance the co-operation among the parties to share security, technical, and technological information and expertise.Under the agreement, the parties shall boost the co-operation in the area of upgrading systems, provide the mutual assistance to counter serious cross-border organised crimes, and support co-operation and co-ordination in the field of security.Major-General al-Nasr outlined that the signing of this agreement comes within the framework of the directives of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, adding that such levels of co-operation will play a crucial role in determining the priorities when handling cross-border organised crimes that affect both Europol and Qatar.De Bolle said that the fruitful co-operation between the law enforcement agencies Qatar and their counterparts in the EU will start right away.The agreement will allow Qatar to appoint a liaison officer to operate from the Europol headquarters in the Netherlands.
