Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) returned on Thursday to Doha after participating in relief operations in Pakistan, which was hit by floods and torrential rain in late August. Over two weeks, the group participated in relief work, equipped with specialised mechanisms and equipment for search and rescue operations, along with a medical team with integrated medical equipment in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and the Ministry of Interior. Integrated field hospitals were established to support and shelter those affected. Qatar International Search and Rescue Group arrived in Karachi on September 2, coinciding with Qatar's first airlift flights to support Pakistan. The Standing Committee for Rescue and Relief Works and Humanitarian Aids for Afflicted Areas in Brotherly and Friendly Countries assumed the task of preparing relief materials and coordinating with the concerned authorities to deliver them to the affected areas.
