Cabinet approves draft Amiri decision to establish External Information Office

* Office will convey accurate image of Qatar and highlight its priorities and vision

 

 

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday. Following the meeting, HE the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Sulaiti issued the following statement: At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet welcomed the results of the talks of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during his official visit to the State on Sept 13-14, which came within the framework of the brotherly and historical relations between the two countries, and the common desire to develop and advance them for the benefit of the two peoples.The Cabinet affirmed that the Qatari-Egyptian summit talks and the memoranda of understanding signed in Doha opened new horizons for the two countries to expand and develop co-operation in various fields, intensify efforts to serve Arab issues and enhance joint Arab Action.Then, the Cabinet considered the topics on the agenda as follows:First — Approval of a draft Amiri decision to establish and organise the External Information Office.According to the draft decision, the External Information Office will be established, affiliated with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and shall have a legal personality, with a budget attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The office aims to convey an accurate image of Qatar and highlight its priorities and vision.Second — Approval of a draft MoU for co-operation in the field of youth between the governments of Qatar and Turkmenistan.Third — Approval of hosting the 91st session of the Executive Council of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) (Doha — Oct 10, 2022).Fourth — The Cabinet followed up the arrangements and preparations for hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and took the appropriate decision in this regard.Fifth — The Cabinet reviewed the following topics and took the appropriate decisions:1- Results of the study prepared by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the competencies of the committee to set maximum prices and profit rates.2- Annual reports on the work of the Qatar Committee for the Alliance of Civilizations during the period from 2019-2021.3- Results of the 32nd meeting of GCC Agricultural Co-operation Committee (June 2022 — via videoconferencing).
