His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani mourned with great sadness Queen Elizabeth II.HH the Amir said, in a statement issued by the Amiri Diwan, that Queen Elizabeth II was a friend of Qatar and a symbol of wisdom and moderation, who deepened the strong historical relationship between Qatar and the United Kingdom, which is based on friendship, co-operation and understanding.His Highness the Amir expressed deepest condolences to King Charles III of the United Kingdom and to the royal family, government and people of the United Kingdom on the death of the queen.Below is the text of the statement:"We received with great sadness the news of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, who was a friend of the State of Qatar and a symbol of wisdom, moderation, foresight and judgment, and who deepened the strong historical relationship between the State of Qatar and the United Kingdom, which is built on friendship, cooperation and understanding.The world has unanimously appreciated and respected her. She was a source of inspiration and nobility.On behalf of the Qatari people, and on his behalf, HH the Amir expressed sincere condolences to HM King Charles III, the Royal Family, the Government of the United Kingdom and its friendly people on the death of the queen."His Highness the Amir also ordered flags to be flown at half-mast in the country for a period of three days.
