In Al Khor, a similar activity saw 33 volunteers removing 100kg of trash from the beach at Al Thakira – described as Qatar's oldest and largest mangrove forests. In a post on its social media pages, organisers thanked volunteers, friends and families who participated in the beach clean-up.Deap Qatar also puts a spotlight on the importance of using up-cycled materials at the “Across Borders: Textile Heritage Exhibition”, taking place at M7, Msheireb Downtown Doha in collaboration with the US embassy in Doha.“The exhibition celebrates the similarities between traditional Qatari weaving techniques and patterns from those of the natives from the Americas,” Deap Qatar said. “All pieces in the exhibition were created with up-cycled materials, and celebrates the zero-waste approach that our ancestors had when it came to making textiles.”
