Third stranded baby dugong rescued from Khor Al Udaid

The dugong rescued Friday and the other two rescued earlier this month.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) Friday announced the rescue of yet another stranded baby dugong from the Khor Al Udaid area, the third within a month, in co-operation with Qatari environmental activist Khalifa Saleh Omar al-Hamidi.

The ministry has taken the necessary measures to transport the baby dugong to the Fuwairit (Sea Turtle Project) area, and she has been placed in an equipped pond adjacent to Ocean and Oscar, the other two baby dugongs rescued earlier, a tweet explained.The latest baby dugong was named Olivia. Her superficial wounds were treated and she received proper care and first aid to ensure her safety, another tweet said."Preparations will be made for the release of the rescued dugongs to their original habitat in the country, after ensuring their safety and their ability to rely on themselves," it was explained in another tweet.
