QFC appoints two Qataris to key leadership roles

The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), a leading onshore financial and business centre in the region, has appointed Yousef Fakhroo as its new chief marketing and corporate communications officer.The centre has also appointed Turky Maeed al-Hbabi in the role of manager (Government Relations).

A former member of the QFC family, Fakhroo returns to the QFC from ExxonMobil, Qatar, where he served as the deputy director of Public and Government Affairs. He is a communications and branding expert with over 16 years of experience spanning various industries, including oil and gas, business, finance and education.To lead the team in transacting business and liaising with various government departments and agencies, al-Hbabi is joining QFC’s client affairs from his position as acting head of facilities services at Al Jazeera Media Network.Prior, he served as the acting head of operation, Qatarisation, and a member of the expatriate affairs committee for the Ministry of Labour.“With their extensive experience, we are confident that both will become indispensable assets to the QFC. Fakhroo will implement the company’s strategy and deliver our values, purpose and stories across our wide stakeholder network, while al-Hbabi will ensure seamless relations and processes between the QFC and Qatar’s government bureaus,” said Yousuf Mohamed al-Jaida, QFC Authority chief executive.Fakhroo holds a Master’s in International Marketing Management from the University of Surrey in the UK. He has also completed relevant and key executive programmes from London Business School and Harvard Business School.Al-Hbabi holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Isra University, Jordan, and an executive Master’s in Business Administration (EMBA) from Alexandria University.
