Ministry holds introductory forum on food safety

The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Doha Municipality, organised Wednesday an introductory forum on rules and principles of food health and safety as well as proper ways to trade foodstuff, with the participation of officials of various hotels and restaurants from different areas of Doha.The forum aimed to raise awareness of food safety and the health requirements that must be met according to standard specifications, to achieve the highest levels of food safety.On this occasion, the Director of Doha Municipality Mansour Ajran al-Buainain said that the introductory forum with food establishments' officials and representatives comes within the framework of the ministry's keenness to open new horizons for dialogue and joint work with all relevant institutions and bodies to develop the work environment.The forum will serve the interests of everyone and is the beginning of a series of upcoming forums that include all food establishments within the borders of Doha to enhance community participation.The forum also aims to activate the awareness role in addition to the supervisory role, by enhancing co-operation, integration, and communication with food establishments' officials to provide guidance and raise awareness on food safety.The Director of Doha Municipality pointed out the educational role played by the inspectors of the Health Control Section of the Municipal Control Department during their campaigns and tours.The Health Control Section inspectors educate food establishments officials and workers about everything related to food safety, pointing out that the main objective is not to spot errors and violations but to alert for correction to achieve the provision of healthy and safe food for everyone.For his part, Director of the Municipal Control Department of Doha Municipality Salem al-Shafi said that the municipality's hosting of the forum comes within the philosophy and strategy of the ministrytarget="_blank"'>
