QU holds Annual Youth Research Forum

The Qatar University – Young Scientists Centre (QU-YSC), in co-operation with the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science, presented a global platform to support the scientific research movement and encourage young people to engage in research and creativity through the Youth Research Forum.

The forum included a group of young researchers and experts who meet from different countries to present research results, support researchers from the undergraduate and graduate levels, and work to reduce the research gap by highlighting its most prominent challenges.The annual event is considered one of the most important scientific and research events in Qatar University (QU) and the research sector, and receives support and appreciation for its outstanding importance from various quarters.Through the research forum, the QU aims to achieve several goals, the most important of which to contribute to achieving research priorities in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and respond to major social and economic challenges locally and globally.In addition to forming a network of young and promising researchers who play their role in enriching the scientific research community at QU and beyond, the initiative contributes to discoveries that affect various aspects of life.The conference is also an opportunity to integrate QU students into interdisciplinary research and present their research outputs in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics), humanities, and social sciences to maximise their impact on Qatar.The Forum Committee also provides criticism and support for the participating research to improve its quality and enforce its publication in prestigious scientific journals.The third and fourth youth forums witnessed great and remarkable success at the local and international levels, attracting hundreds of research papers to participate and dozens of researchers.The third edition of the forum was under the theme *Identity and Cultural Tourism: Towards a Sustainable Culture and Legacy, in which 20 papers from five countries were presented.The fourth edition was entitled *The World Cup and Qatar 2022: Challenges and Aspirations, in which 150 papers were presented from 15 countries.The annual topics are chosen to keep pace with the developments of the times and the issues that require efforts and scientific discoveries to reach solutions to them.The QU-YSC and its leadership are keen to continue developing the youth research forum and innovating opportunities and ways to increase its impact on society.“Scientific research is the gateway to development for all countries and considered one of the priorities of international universities as it is one of the most important pillars of development in the fields of science, technology, creativity, and innovation,” QU-YSC director Prof Noora Jaber al-Thani said in a speech. “Therefore, the great interest in this forum lies as one of the centre’s initiatives, which is working to prepare and prepare a generation of Qatari researchers.”
