Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) secretary-general Mohamed Hamel visited the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Doha to meet with ambassador Issagaliyev Arman and reinforce the long-standing relationship between the two sides.
During the meeting, Hamel acknowledged the position of Kazakhstan in the energy world, thanks to its vast hydrocarbon reserves and resources. Emphasising Kazakhstan’s previous status of an Observer Member at the GECF, the secretary-general underscored the value of joining the world’s largest intergovernmental organisation on natural gas. The two sides reviewed the key opportunities in the Kazakhstani gas industry, the government’s strategies to grow it and the recent launch of new gas-related initiatives. Welcoming the fresh impetus to GECF-Kazakhstan relationship, ambassador Arman expressed interest in GECF’s expertise and reach, which he regarded as important, particularly at this time of industry expansion in Kazakhstan. The GECF official invited Kazakhstan’s presence at upcoming high-level events of the Forum. The sides agreed to continue the engagement.
