Qatar Tourism has released the June edition of Qatar Calendar, shedding light on the events lined up this month.
"Summer is soon upon us and Qatar has plenty going on this season. Whether you’re an art and culture lover, nature fan, car aficionado, or looking to seal some business deals before everyone heads off for a break in July, there’s something in store for everyone," QT said in a statement.Here’s a roundup of what’s on, when and where, according to Qatar Calendar (qatarcalendar.com)
Katara Opera HouseJune 9, 18 and 21 (Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday)Classical music lovers are in for a treat this month with an evening performance every week by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra at the Katara Opera House. Buy your tickets to enjoy the Classics of the Arabic Golden Age; the Best of Johannes Brahms and violin concerto of classical hits by Max Bruch. Tickets range from QR75-200 and are available at www.q-tickets.com
Doha Exhibition & Convention Centre (DECC) June 6-9 (Monday-Thursday)Hospitality Qatar and Project Qatar are two of Qatar’s long-standing exhibitions and this year, they will both run under the same roof at the same time. Head to DECC to see the latest showcase in the world of construction and hospitality and meet some of the biggest players who’ve helped make this country ready to host the world’s most anticipated football tournament!
Katara - the Cultural Village Ending June 10 (Friday)For a change from mall shopping, keen shoppers are invited to explore the first Summer Trade Fair. There they’ll find 220 exhibitors spread over an area of 6,400sqm showcasing their products from around the world. Explore the endless array of traditional clothing, accessories, fragrances, cosmetics, homeware and handicrafts.

'SHOWTIME!'
June 11-13 (Saturday-Monday)Students and staff from across Qatar Foundation schools and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra are putting on a show featuring a selection of songs from Broadway and the West End’s most loved musicals.The 'SHOWTIME!’ programme features extracts and medleys from over 20 musicals, including 'Wicked', 'Oliver', 'Annie', 'Hairspray', 'Mary Poppins' and 'Matilda'. Performances will run at Education City’s PUE theatre starting 2.30pm. This is a free seating event on a first-come first-served basis. Museums Doha’s many museums offer inspiration to young and old alike. Here are some new exhibitions we’re looking forward to this month:- 'Doha Dreams' Inspired by the Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams Exhibition; June 8-August 31 Head to M7 at Msheireb Downtown Doha to see the work of seven local contemporary designers who have reimagined the aesthetics and luxury of Dior’s work, which was exhibited at the same venue earlier this year.- Paint Palette: Abstract Art for Children; June 15-November 23Take your little tots to Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art for a series of three workshops starting the middle of this month and running up until November. Sessions are for children aged 3-7 years and free to attend; registration is required.* There are some other exhibitions still on at the National Museum of Qatar. Here are some worth popping on your must-see list!- High fashion lovers are invited to travel back and forth between past and present discovering the history, know-how and design of Hermes’ iconic accessories. The Once upon a Bag exhibition has been on tour in three countries and is in Doha up until Saturday, June 11.- Your Brain to Me, My Brain to You is an invitation for people of all ages to go on an immersive journey of self-discovery through a multisensory experience that inspires introspection and awe. The large-scale site-specific installation by internationally-renowned Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist is the artist’s first in the Middle East. Admission is free, and ticket reservation is required.- Head to the Mawater Gallery for an exhibition in honour of the museum to come. A Sneak Peek at Qatar Auto Museum celebrates the mission to drive culture forward and to inspire the next generation of innovators, designers, engineers, collectors and policymakers through a shared passion.
Outside Doha June 16-July 12 (Thursday-Tuesday)Families are invited to witness a natural phenomenon with Turtle Encounters along Qatar’s coastline this summer with Dadu, Children’s Museum of Qatar. Head out on exclusive evening visits to Fuwairit Beach to learn more about the annual hatching phase of the hawksbill turtle which has been classified as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature in 1982.Registration for Turtle Encounters will open on June 9 to Qatar Museums’ Culture Pass members of the Family category.
