Alfa Karina Arrue, the first climber from El Salvador to make it to the summit of Mount Everest, visited Doha recently on an invitation from El Salvador ambassador Milton Alcides Magana Herrera. Arrue paid a courtesy call at the embassy with the envoy and Qatari entrepreneur and philanthropist Farhan Al Sheikh al-Sayed, as well as other community members. Herrera hosted an event in honour of Arrue for her achievement. A number of attendees had the opportunity to meet the climber before she travelled back to her home country. It was Arrue’s second Mount Everest attempt which was successful. The first attempt to climb was in 2021, which was not completed due to bad weather conditions. Arrue is presented with a trophy for her achievement by al-Sayed, in the presence of Herrera.
