Qatar's IMUVI rises in Q1, 2022

Qatar’s Import Unit Value Index (IMUVI) increased by 0.74% on an annualised basis during the first quarter of this year, according to the official statistics.The country's IMUVI rose 0.44% quarter-on-quarter during Q1, 2022, said the figures released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).IMUVI contains ten main groups classified on the basis of the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC).On a yearly basis, the increase in the IMUVI, primarily due to 3.64% surge in the unit value of machinery and transport, 1.85% in beverages and tobacco and 0.78% in chemicals and related products.Nevertheless, a decrease has been recorded in crude materials, inedible, except fuels nu 8.67%; mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials 2.91%, manufactured products 2.56%, miscellaneous manufactured articles 0.45%, and food and live animals 0.4%.No change noticed in “animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes" and “commodities and transactions not classified elsewhere in SITC.On a quarterly basis, the unit value of "animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes rose 3.03%, chemicals and related products 2.14%, beverages and tobacco 1.85%, food and live animals 1.48% and machinery and transport equipment 0.84%.However, a 2.7% decrease has been recorded in mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials; 1.59% in crude materials, inedible, except fuels; 0.74% in manufactured goods classified chiefly by material and 0.37% in miscellaneous manufactured articles.
