The Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Adviser to HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Majed al-Ansari stressed that Qatar highly values the American commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East.Referring to the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, he said the initiative represents an important step toward ending destruction and suffering in Gaza, which is the aim of Qatar”.During his weekly media briefing, the MOFA spokesperson stated that Qatar and Egypt have jointly delivered the plan to Hamas’ negotiation team, with preparations underway for further discussions involving Turkiye. "The plan was handed over late Monday night, and Hamas has pledged to study it seriously."The MOFA spokesperson emphasised that the proposal is vital for achieving peace and stability in the region and expressed hope for its success.He further welcomed Washington’s efforts to advance the initiative, including moves to form a World Peace Committee, underlining that Qatar will spare no effort in working to end the war and safeguard peace for the Palestinian people. Intensive consultations in this regard are currently being held in Doha with active participation from Egypt, Turkiye and other stakeholders, Dr al-Ansari said.The MOFA spokesperson reiterated that the government’s foremost priority is to safeguard the peace, security, and sovereignty of Qatar and protect all who live in the country.Commenting on Israel’s apology, the MOFA spokesperson noted that while it is the least that could be done in response to a flagrant attack, the real importance lies in the guarantees provided to ensure such aggression will never be repeated.He affirmed that Israel’s commitment not to attack Qatar again, together with additional assurances from Washington, will allow the people of Qatar to continue living in "peace, stability, and normalcy".At the same time, he confirmed that legal proceedings are ongoing to ensure justice for the victims and their families.Highlighting the wider context, the MOFA spokesperson said that the recognition of a Palestinian State by many countries is a significant development. He stressed that the immediate priority is for all parties, including Hamas, to approve the US peace plan, after which other issues can be addressed in practical stages.Dr al-Ansari added that once the plan is endorsed, Qatar will continue to provide all necessary support to establish peace, stability, and security for the brotherly Palestinian people.The MOFA spokesperson described President Trump’s plan as comprehensive and expressed optimism about its prospects.Trump's plan includes deployment of a "temporary international stabilisation force" and the creation of a transitional authority headed by Trump himself and including former British premier Tony Blair.Saudi ready to work with US on 'plan'Saudi Arabia yesterday affirmed its readiness to cooperate with the United States in achieving a comprehensive deal to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, implement the complete Israeli withdrawal from the Strip, and ensure the unhindered flow of adequate humanitarian aid. That came in the Saudi Cabinet's meeting chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud.
