Vietnam marks 80th National Day, condemns Israeli attack on Qatar

The 80th anniversary of the National Day of Vietnam was marked in Doha yesterday by the embassy.The event was attended by Qatar's Minister of Social Development and Family HE Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Protocol director HE ambassador Ibrahim Fakhro, a number of diplomats representing various countries and senior members of the Vietnamese community in the country.Vietnamese ambassador Nguyen Huy Hiep stressed the strong and steadily growing friendly and business relations between Qatar and Vietnam, as he commemorated the passage of 80 years on the achievements of his people, and the friendships that have enriched his country with various excellent diplomatic relations with different countries of the world and Qatar in particular."Vietnam will continue to make progress on the path of sustainable, inclusive, and innovative development; the relationship between Vietnam and Qatar will flourish, contributing to regional and global prosperity."We highly appreciate the efforts of the State and the people of Qatar in maintaining political and social stability, fostering economic prosperity, and contributing positively and responsibly to peace, security and development in the region and around the world," he added.Commenting on the recent attacks on Qatar by Israel, the Vietnamese ambassador said: "We have been facing many security challenges and seen unpredictable developments, especially the Israeli attack on a residential compound in a densely populated area in Doha, with schools and diplomatic missions. Vietnam condemns the use of force, which violates international law, the United Nations Charter, and the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries. "Further, he reiterated his country's stand: "We call on relevant parties to exercise restraint, avoid escalating tensions, and settle differences peacefully in strict accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Vietnam supports efforts to create conditions conducive to negotiations toward a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire in the Israel-Palestine conflict, for the sake of peace and stability in the region and in the world."
