Qatari delegation visits Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission in Saudi Arabia

A delegation from Qatar has visited the Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Commission in Saudi Arabia.The visit, according to an official statement, comes as part of strengthening bilateral co-operation and exchanging expertise in radiological and nuclear activities.The delegation was briefed on the technical and legislative capabilities of the Saudi side, particularly with regard to the regulatory and legislative frameworks in the nuclear and radiological fields as well as licensing, inspection and law enforcement systems.The two sides also discussed ways to enhance co-operation in the areas of nuclear safety and security and joint co-ordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).The three-day visit included technical meetings between the two sides as well as field visits to the radiological laboratories and the Nuclear and Radiological Emergency Centre where the Saudi experience in this field was reviewed.The two sides emphasised the importance of continuing co-ordination and co-operation in these vital areas.
