New stamps feature winning falcons

A set of six special postal stamps, launched by the Qatar Olympic Committee president HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al-Thani recently, depict a Peregrine falcon and a Sakar falcon which won the three first places at the 2021 Al Mazayen (falcon beauty) championship.

The Qatar Society of Al-Qannas said in a statement on Monday that the launch took place on January 29 at the conclusion of the Qatar International Falcon and Hunting Festival, Marmi 2022. The stamps were launched in cooperation with the Arab Postal Stamp Museum at Katara - The Cultural Village. Amira Ahmed al-Mohannadi, director of the Museum, has appreciated the co-operation with Al Qannas Society to issue the new stamps under the patronage of HE Sheikh Joaan.While three stamps carry pictures of the winning Peregrine Falcon, the other three depict images of the winning Sakar Falcon.
