Trainees of Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) vocational training in Aleppo Governorate, northern Syria have successfully designed and manufactured a home power bank to ensure safe and uninterrupted household power supply.According to QRCS, the prototype will meet the needs of displaced and vulnerable families suffering from frequent power outages by providing a reliable alternative source of power to operate basic household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, lighting, fans and home routers.The initiative forms part of QRCS’ Vocational Training for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Alternative Energy Professions project. Direct beneficiaries totaled 300, in addition to around 1,500 indirect beneficiaries from their family members.The manufacturing of these devices is scheduled to begin on a larger scale by the middle of next month, with the participation of 100 trainees selected based on competency and commitment criteria.Each trainee will manufacture their own home power bank, bringing the total number of devices manufactured to 100, which will enhance access to sustainable and safe energy solutions for the beneficiaries and their families.
