Japanese ambassador hails Qatar’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region

The ambassador of Japan in Qatar Satoshi Maeda hailed the prominent role that the State of Qatar has played and is playing in establishing and supporting peace and stability in the Middle East and the world, stressing that Qatar has significantly strengthened its presence in the international community.In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, the ambassador congratulated HH the Amir, government and people of the State of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day, praising its efforts to develop various fields over the past years.Hesaid that Doha has especially received a great deal of attention thanks to the role it played in the evacuations from Afghanistan, and these efforts have evidently emphasized the role of the State of Qatar as a stabilizing factor in the region, explaining that over the past years, Qatar has also channeled significant efforts into the cultural, sports, education, medical care, and tourism sectors, emphasizing on the knowledge based economy, the thing that has contributed to complete the picture of Qatar as a strong and modern emerging country in the world today.On the impact of the coronavirus, the ambassador Satoshi Maeda noted that the Qatari response to the Covid-19 crisis was commendable in terms of the efforts made not only to curb its negative impact on its citizens and territory but also to support countries least able to deal with the ordeal.On the economic field, Qatar is a country that is experiencing a rapid growth in all fields and on all levels. It is impressive to see how the country has been vigorously working to develop domestic infrastructure, including Doha Metro."Now one year ahead of the World Cup in 2022, it has been announced that all stadiums are completed. Its a great achievement especially considering the obstacles that were on the way. Im sure that Qatar will deliver a very successful and amazing World Cup." the ambassador stated.Japanese ambassador to the country also expressed his country's readiness to contribute its experience to the success of the upcoming FIFA World Cup by exchanging the knowledge it gained in organizing sporting events over the past years, noting to the State of Qatar's active diplomacy that works to promote better and closer relations with other countries, which are highly regarded, just as his country has had excellent relations with the State of Qatar since the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.His Excellency affirmed that these relations have steadily developed over the past half century, especially in the energy sector. The stable supply of LNG and oil from Qatar has supported Japan's economic growth for many years, adding that despite the fact that the economic exchanges have been the backbone of our relation for more than five decades, thanks to the strong political will of the two countries and under the "comprehensive partnership" based on our cooperative relationship, solid foundations for bilateral cooperation have also been established and continues to prosper in various fields not only in the economic field but also in the cultural, technical, scientific, defense and security fields.The ambassador Maeda pointed out that in 2019, the two countries have signed memorandums and agreements in the fields of economy, commerce, transportation, environment, legal affairs, culture and sports. Also a joint declaration was announced on the establishment of a "Strategic Dialogue" chaired by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, and indeed the first round of the Strategic Dialogue was launched in Doha during the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan to the State of Qatar in Aug. 2021. The Strategic Dialogue had several outcomes but most notably it has stressed on the mutual desire to strengthen the bilateral cooperation between our friendly nations especially in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations.He pointed out that Japan is Qatars number one trade partner with a trade volume of approx. QR29.11 billion during 2020, noting that major Japanese companies are contributing to Qatar's vital infrastructure projects such as Doha Metro, Hamad International Airport, LNG expansion projects, Mega-Solar-Power Plant of Al-Kharsaa, just to name a few."Furthermore, the cooperation between Qatar and Japan has been expanding beyond energy and infrastructure projects to encompass cooperation in such promising projects as the joint investment in power plants in third countries, the production of new types of clean energy, the Golden Pass LNG project " His Excellency added.At the end of his statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ambassador of Japan to Qatar Satoshi Maeda, in a related context, pointed out to the establishment of the Chair of the State of Qatar in Islamic Area Studies at Waseda University in cooperation with Qatar University, and the experimental plant for industrial waste water desalination and other projects, expressing his countrys aspiration to enhance and develop areas of bilateral cooperation in other fields such as security and defense, especially in light of celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Qatar and Japans bilateral relations, and compilation a slew of Cultural, sports and educational events in the two countries on this occasion.
