Ministry of Municipality marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work

The Ministry of Municipality, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defence at the Ministry of Interior, organised a number of awareness workshops aimed at promoting concepts of health and safety in workplaces.The workshops were carried out on the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, which falls on April 28, a statement said.Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality organised an awareness workshop titled 'Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility' at Al Khor Park, as part of efforts to spread the culture of occupational safety and risk prevention in the workplace. The workshop saw wide participation from department directors and municipal employees, as well as representatives from companies and contractors, aiming to educate them on the key concepts related to health and safety, the mechanisms for handling emergency situations, in addition to a practical training on the use of safety equipment.The Administrative Services Department organised an awareness workshop for ministry employees to mark the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Capt Abdulhadi Ali al-Marri from the General Directorate of Civil Defence, in a lecture, reviewed the methods for dealing with various types of fires, safe evacuation procedures during emergencies, and the preventive measures that should be followed, in addition to the necessary steps to enhance safety and security standards in workplaces.The workshop also featured theoretical explanations and practical applications aimed at raising the level of preparedness and strengthening the safety culture among all participants. This contributes to the development of preventive procedures, increases awareness of workplace hazards and how to address them, and ultimately reduces accidents and injuries.The organisation of these workshops is part the Ministry of Municipality’s commitment to reinforcing occupational safety concepts at all work sites, stemming from its belief in the importance of the human element as the cornerstone of sustainable development, and its keenness to promote a safe working environment through continuous awareness campaigns and intensified training and qualification programmes.
