Qatar Toy Festival is evolving into a flagship family-entertainment destination, bringing global brands, immersive attractions and live performances together to engage visitors of every age across the region and beyond. This year’s edition, created through Spacetoon’s collaboration with Visit Qatar, is the festival’s largest and most comprehensive so far, according to Spacetoon general manager Ahmad Weiss. “This collaboration has been anchored in Visit Qatar’s clear and ambitious vision to establish Qatar as the region’s leading family destination,” Weiss told Gulf Times. He said the festival reflects that wider strategy by bringing internationally recognised entertainment brands, newly developed interactive experiences, a major live programme and exclusive retail activations together under one roof. New attractions, including the Studio Zone and Inflatables Zone, sit alongside celebrity appearances and live performances, giving returning visitors fresh reasons to explore the event. Weiss said selecting the festival’s brands and experiences requires more than following international popularity. “Our curation process is driven by a combination of global market insights, audience research and a deep understanding of regional consumer preferences.” Spacetoon also considers whether an experience encourages creativity, family participation and meaningful engagement, while ensuring that each activation reflects the cultural values and expectations of audiences in the region. The changing line-up is intended to keep the festival relevant for repeat visitors while responding to new trends in global entertainment. At the centre of the event is the main stage at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, designed as the festival’s signature entertainment destination. Its programme features celebrities, international characters and heroes, interactive productions, musical entertainment and family-focused shows. “Our programming philosophy extends beyond traditional stage performances,” Weiss said. “Every show is designed to encourage audience participation, create memorable shared moments and deliver high-quality entertainment that resonates across generations.” He said that multi-generational approach shapes the wider festival as well. Rather than applying one format to every visitor, Spacetoon creates distinct environments suited to different developmental stages and interests, from preschool children to teenagers. “The best family entertainment experiences are those that bring generations together,” Weiss said. Age-specific attractions allow children and young people to engage at their own level, while shared activities encourage parents and siblings to explore the festival together and create lasting memories. This year’s exclusive merchandise, including mystery blind boxes, extends that relationship beyond the venue, according to Weiss. “Collectibles have become an increasingly important extension of today’s entertainment experiences,” Weiss said, describing them as a way for audiences to maintain a personal connection with favourite characters and brands. He noted growing demand for premium collectibles across the Middle East and North Africa, with exclusive festival products offering visitors keepsakes that cannot be found elsewhere.
