As many as 496 individuals donated blood at a camp organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), as part of the India @75, 'Azaadi ka Amrith Mahotsav', (75 years Indian Independence celebrations) on August 13, with support from the Hamad Medical Corporation.
With many spot registrations, the camp was successfully managed with a seamless process from point of registration to health check clearance, blood drawing, and issuance of appreciation certificate with a medal.The event was inaugurated by Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal and Qatar Ministry of Public Health's Public Health Department director Sheikh Dr Mohamed bin Hamad al-Thani. Indian embassy first secretary and ICC co-ordinating officer Xavier Dhanraj, Dr Sharon Jacob from the Hamad Blood Donor Centre and event sponsor Naseem Medical's Iqbal Abdullah were present.ICC general secretary Krishna Kumar and vice-president Subramanya Hebbagelu spoke. The event was executed by ICC management committee under the leadership of P N Baburajan.
