Campaign to remove abandoned vehicles begins in Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality

The campaign is being carried out by the committee to remove abandoned vehicles, the mechanical equipment department and the general cleanliness department in co-operation with Al Shamal Municipality.
A joint campaign was launched in Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality on Sunday morning to remove abandoned vehicles in line with Law No. 18 of 2017 on Public Hygiene.
The campaign is being carried out by the committee to remove abandoned vehicles, the mechanical equipment department and the general cleanliness department in co-operation with Al Shamal Municipality, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has said in a statement.
Al-Shahwani said the campaign will continue for two weeks and abandoned vehicles across the municipality will be targeted until all such vehicles detected are removed. The official informed that the campaign started after the conclusion of a similar initiative in Al Shamal Municipality, where 36 abandoned vehicles and equipment were removed. These were in addition to a large number of such vehicles being removed by their owners. He added that the campaign would be implemented in Al Daayen Municipality after Al Khor and Al Thakhira.
He urged people to co-operate with the authorities concerned and avoid such unacceptable practices by letting their vehicles be parked and neglected for long periods.
