In a first-of-its-kind initiative, locally produced falcons by several Qatari farms competed in the first Katara championship for falcons and hunting organised by the Qatari Society of Al Gannas from November 19-30.Local falcon producers praised the initiative that aims to preserve environmental diversity in Qatar.Saeed Rashid al-Nuaimi, head of the organising committee, said that including a falcon competition produced by local farms encourages farm owners to increase the production and caretaking of such birds, which represents one of Al Gannas's goals to preserve environmental diversity and sustainability.Mohammed Madi al-Hajri praised the efforts of the Qatari Society of Al Gannas and Katara – the Cultural Village in supporting local producers.The falconers competed on Tuesday in a number of competition finals in different categories. – QNA
