Indian Sports Centre announces new managing committee, advisory council
Indian ambassador Dr Deepak Mittal is the patron of ISC, and defence attache Capt Mohan Atla is the co-ordinating officer.
The following are nominated as managing committee members: president - Dr Mohan Thomas (overall co-ordinator); vice president - Sheji Valiyakath (membership, premises development and sponsorship, Qatar shooting); general secretary - T S Sreenivas (primary - tennis; secondary - cricket, school games); head of finance - Rukkaiya Pachisa (primary - golf; secondary - ladies games, trekking); joint secretary - Rajesh Kannan (primary - yoga and fitness; secondary - water sports, swimming). Heads - John DeSa (primary - football; secondary - hockey, carrom); Yawar Ali (primary - volleyball; secondary - basketball); Safeeru Rahman (primary - badminton; secondary - football, squash, tug-of-war, arm wrestling); Varkey Boban (primary - table tennis; secondary - badminton, chess); Anil Boloor (primary - throwball; secondary - cricket, cycling); Shivani (primary - cricket; secondary - school games).
The following are nominated as advisory council members, and have been assigned to be in charge of activities as mentioned below: chairman — Kunju Marakkar Mohamed Easa (overall co-ordination); members - Sippy Jose (primary - football; secondary - badminton, hockey and rifle shooting); Nisha Agarwal (primary - yoga, fitness; secondary - golf, football); Parvez Khan (primary - cricket); Cyril Anand (primary - golf; secondary - cricket); Sanjay Jain (primary - golf; secondary - cricket); Dr Mani Kandan (primary - cricket; secondary - football, chess, carrom, badminton).
"The office-bearers are planning activities for promotion of sports and games among the Indian community, to celebrate yoga in a notable manner, support the host country in the upcoming international events and provide a facility for the sports activities of the Indian community," Dr Thomas added.
