Minister of Communications meets heads of delegations and international organizations at global dialogue on AI governance
His Excellency Qatar's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai held a series of bilateral meetings on Wednesday with ministers and heads of international organizations on the sidelines of the Global Dialogue on AI Governance, currently underway in Geneva.His Excellency met with Minister of Communications and Information Technology of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al Swaha, Minister for Digital Transformation and Government Modernization of the Federal Republic of Germany Dr. Karsten Wildberger, and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Lebanon Dr. Kamal Shehadeh. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, as well as exchanging expertise in digital technologies, innovation, and the modernization of government services.HE the Minister of Communications and Information Technology also held meetings with Minister of Justice and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Estonia Liisa-Ly Pakosta, Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation is Niamh Smyth of the Republic of Ireland Niamh Smyth, and Minister for Digital Development and Information of the Republic of Singapore Josephine Teo. The meetings reviewed best practices in digital government and the development of e-government services, and explored opportunities for cooperation in the digital economy and artificial intelligence, as well as ways to strengthen partnerships in digital infrastructure and innovation.HE Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai also met with Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Doreen Bogdan-Martin to discuss cooperation in support of international efforts to advance the governance of digital technologies. He also met with UN Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies Amandeep Singh Gill to review the latest developments in AI governance and emerging technologies.The meetings offered an opportunity to explore ways to enhance cooperation in the areas of digital transformation, AI governance and digital infrastructure, while promoting the exchange of expertise and expanding bilateral partnerships.HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Office at Geneva Dr. Hend Abdulrahman Al Muftah attended the meetings.
