Palestinian President emphasizes significance of stopping Israeli aggression on Gaza, West Bank

The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday stressed the importance of stopping the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, West Bank and Jerusalem. He called for rapid access of humanitarian assistance to Gaza Strip and help shelter centers and hospitals perform their roles.During his meeting with the UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs David Cameron, Abbas called for ceasing the assaults perpetrated by the Israeli occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank, apprising the UK Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the latest developments on the ground, especially in Gaza Strip.Abbas reiterated the categorical rejection of displacing the Palestinians from Gaza Strip, West Bank and Jerusalem, stressing that there is no military or security solution for Gaza Strip, asserting that Gaza is part and parcel of the Palestinian State. He rejected the schemes of the occupation power to carve up and separate the Strip from the West Bank, including Jerusalem or reoccupy it.Security and peace are only achieved through pursuing the political solution based on the two-state solution that underpins the international legitimacy and Arab Peace Initiative to end the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, Abbas highlighted.
