The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned Israel's intentional targeting of workers operating in the field of press and media, including their families in the occupied Palestinian territories, the latest of which was the assassination of the journalist Samer Abu Daqqa and the injury of the correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh from Al Jazeera Media Network. In a statement on Saturday, OIC renewed the call on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to complete the investigation into all crimes perpetrated by Israel, the occupation force, against the civilians, including media professionals and journalists who are murdered, arrested, and beaten on the background of their media careers. In addition, OIC held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the martyrdom of over 80 journalists, along with the arrest of over 45 journalists since the start of the persistent Israeli aggression in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in an attempt to dissuade them from communicating the scenes of genocide and documenting the war crimes perpetrated by the Israeli occupation in the occupied Palestinian territory, in addition to preventing these documents from being relayed to the global public opinion.Meanwhile, OIC called on the relevant global institutions to immediately act to ensure enforcement of justice and provide the essential protection for the civilians, including the journalists operating in the occupied Palestinian territories in accordance with the international humanitarian law and the relevant international conventions.
