ANNHRI calls on UN rights council to convene special session on Gaza

The Doha-based Arab Network for National Human Rights Institutions (ANNHRI) has called on members of the UN Human Rights Council and member states to hold a special session on the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.HE ANNHRI Secretary-General Sultan bin Hassan al-Jamali said that the national human rights institutions in the ANNHRI's member states signed an urgent request for convening a special session of the UN Human Rights Council to address the dangerous situation that has been unfolding in Gaza since October 7.The ANNHRI's correspondences, which included the International Criminal Court, the League of Arab States, and the UN Human Rights Council, come within the framework of implementing the recommendations of the emergency meeting of the ANNHRI General Assembly that was held last Wednesday to inform member institutions about joint rights efforts and movements, in a way that contributes to stopping the Israeli occupation's violations of international humanitarian law and working to hold it accountable for its crimes.The ANNHRI's members are Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Egypt, Sudan, Djibouti, Comoros, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania.
