Turkish Minister of Trade Omer Bolat has said that Qatar has achieved huge and significant successes over the past few years, and has become a key player internationally, and has been able to efficiently organise international tournaments and events, noting Qatar's organising of the Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha and its keenness to present an exceptional edition of this global event.During a press conference held on the sidelines of Expo 2023 Doha, which kicked off yesterday, Dr Bolat pointed out that the trade volume between Qatar and Turkiye reached QR8.1bn during 2022 as 720 Turkish companies are operating in Qatar and 120 Qatari companies are operating in Turkiye in various fields.The Turkish minister congratulated Qatar for hosting the Expo, in which more than 150 Turkish businessmen are participating along with a group of intellectuals and specialists through Turkiye's pavilion at the exhibition to showcase the Turkish experience in agriculture, environmental preservation, and sustainability.He stressed the depth of the strategic relations between Qatar and Turkiye in various aspects, indicating that mega events such as Expo 2023 Doha contribute to bolstering co-operation in various fields.He noted the importance of the Expo in promoting awareness of the importance of the environment and sustainability, as well as exchanging knowledge and innovations in various advanced agricultural technologies and sustainable practices in agriculture and horticulture.The Turkish minister said that Expo 2023 Doha, under the theme "Green Desert, Better Environment," embodies important meanings and connotations as the world today suffers from drought and climate change that affects millions of people around the world, which confirms the need to raise the level of awareness of global environmental issues and to promote positive behaviours toward the environment and its preservation.He said the Turkish pavilion will present multiple solutions for renewable energy projects and environmental protection. It will also review the "zero waste" project, which is sponsored by the wife of the Turkish president, in addition to displaying multiple models of agriculture in Turkiye and methods for achieving self-sufficiency, expressing his hope that the largest number of visitors to the exhibition will visit the Turkish pavilion.Dr Bolat said that the trade partnership agreement between the two countries will enter into force at the end of 2023, after the leadership of the two countries ratifies it, pointing to the importance of this agreement in raising the level of trade and economic relations.He explained that the value of Qatari investment in Turkiye reached around $10bn, which confirms the confidence of Qatari investors in the economic and investment environment in Turkiye.The minister expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its humanitarian aid in the wake of the devastating earthquake that occurred in February.
