Qatar's ambassador to Sudan Mohamed Ibrahim al-Sada inaugurated in Port Sudan a Qatar Charity (QC) food aid convoy for families affected by the floods in the Alaalyab area.The convoy is the first relief intervention of its kind for those affected by the floods in the River Nile State this fall.The envoy lauded the rapid response of QC and stressed the continued support of Qatar to the brothers in Sudan.He praised QC's implementation of many important food and health projects during the past months to help internally displaced persons (IDPs), the stranded, and those affected by the war in several states.Ambassador al-Sada noted that QC responded, with the support of the philanthropists in Qatar, by implementing the first relief intervention, after the war, to support the affected hospitals in Khartoum. He indicated that QC also took the initiative to provide the first consignment of cancer drugs since the start of the war through a special air lift that included 62 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies for patients with cancer and kidney failure. He mentioned that QC continues to support the implementation of water, sanitation, and food projects for the affected.The urgent convoy of QC for the affected families in the Alaalyab area of the River Nile State contained 13 tonnes of necessary food aid for 2,400 affected people in the area.The Qatari envoy, accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Health, also visited the dialysis centre of Port Sudan where dialysis medicines and consumables were delivered to ensure the continuity of service provided to the patients.The Sudanese officials praised QC's continuous support to the most vulnerable and needy people affected by the war, and expressed their deep appreciation to His Highness the Amir, the government, and the people of Qatar for their unlimited support to their brothers in Sudan during all crises.
