On the International Day of Charity, observed on September 5 annually, Qatar Charity's (QC) most significant efforts in engaging various segments of the community in charitable work and motivating them to support it is being highlighted, a statement said Monday.QC’s Incubator for Initiatives and Volunteering ‘Ezdehar’ was established in October 2022, and its online platform was launched in February 2023. Some of the most significant achievements of ‘Ezdehar’ includes a database of more than 21,000 male and female volunteers.The total number of volunteer hours, since its launch, has reached 610,133 hours. The number of volunteering opportunities is 55. The number of training hours is 3,321. It launched voluntary programme for specialists.Since its establishment, ‘Ezdehar’ has provided support to nine volunteer initiatives in Qatar, and a total of 12 initiative programmes. QC has bestowed the title of humanitarian ambassador upon several local and international figures who possess the ability to influence, with the aim of leveraging their fame to spread awareness about humanitarian issues and support charitable campaigns.In February, QC named the Qatari champion Mutaz Barshim as a humanitarian ambassador. Its previous humanitarian ambassadors included Frédéric Oumar Kanouté, a professional footballer, Mohammed Saadoun al-Kuwari, a prominent media figure, and others.QC launched the Charity Partner (CP) programme in 2021 to award the CP trademark to companies in exchange for supporting and endorsing charitable and developmental activities as part of their corporate social responsibility. So far, 21 companies and institutions have received this trademark.QC continues to provide opportunities for clubs, school and university students, initiatives, and ministries to contribute to supporting and implementing charitable activities.The Qatar Cyclists Center supported the establishment of Al Shaimaa School in Gaza, and is working on financing schools in Somalia, and the ‘Soul Riders’ team contributed to renovating and furnishing old houses within Qatar.Qatar Charity is keen to include various journalists, social media influencers, activists, and donors in its teams to deliver humanitarian assistance and launch development projects in the field. QC also collaborates with influencers in support of its campaigns or humanitarian causes. On the 27th night of Ramadan, some social media influencers, in co-operation with QC, organised ‘27th Night Challenge’, a live fundraising drive on YouTube, to provide shelter to for internally displaced persons (IDPs). They succeeded in raising QR33mn in three hours.QC produces radio and television programmes in collaboration with media outlets, as well as materials and programs published through its social media platforms, to raise awareness about humanitarian issues, promote a culture of volunteer work, and garner support for campaigns and projects.QC played a significant role in developing the ‘Fazat Shabab Ladaam’ launched by the Ministry of Culture and Sports this year, aimed at preparing Qatari youth leaders in the humanitarian and development filed.The ‘Charity Trip’ programme, organised by QC for different age groups, aims to provide a unique experience that combines tourism, entertainment, and close interaction with humanitarian fieldwork. The first journey to Bosnia and Herzegovina has recently been completed, and there are two upcoming trips to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Tanzania.
