The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum (QOSM) has successfully put together an active initiative called the ‘3-2-1 Summer Sports Fun Factory’, designed to engage children and teenagers aged 3 to 18 in an invigorating summer holiday experience. The ‘3-2-1 Summer Sports Fun Factory’ is currently ongoing at QOSM’s Activation Zone until August 25, featuring a different sports activity for each day of the week, namely Handball Sunday, Basketball Monday, Hockey Tuesday, Athletics Wednesday, Boxing Thursday, Football Friday, and Rugby Saturday, respectively from 10am to 11.30am and from 4pm to 5.30pm.With more free time during the summer, parents often face the challenge of ensuring their children maintain a healthy lifestyle as increased leisure time can lead to a sedentary lifestyle due to the allure of technological distractions such as television, cell phones, or video games. The initiative provides children and teenagers the opportunity to participate in engaging sporting activities, develop their social skills, make new friends, build on current skills, or learn new ones, and reduce holiday boredom."Playing sports is proven to develop character, promote fitness, and provide enjoyment, which is why we take pride in offering a diverse range of activities that enable participants to engage in their favourite sport while enjoying their summer break”, said the museum director Abdulla Yousuf al-Mulla. "Our endeavour promises to deliver a truly distinctive experience, where individuals can delve into various sports, meet new friends, find new hobbies, and make lifelong memories, ensuring that every participant enjoys an adventurous, active, and healthy summer.”Participants are introduced to the fundamental foundations of the different sports, and instructed on how to play each game with its set structure, discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Both experienced and rookie players could improve their skills through targeted skills training and practice in a welcoming and inclusive environment.QOSM recently organised a yoga and mobility session titled "Feel the Flow” for the public; celebrated and marked ‘World Olympics Day’ with an initiative titled "Let’s Move”, encouraging everyone to be physically active irrespective of their environment and background. It also held a treasure hunt and museum tour for children at the museum to promote ‘Olympics and Mental Health’. These events served as a reminder of the profound impact that sports and wellness practices have on individuals’ lives.
